SimulatedPeople

Life, the Universe and Everything

The iPhone came out and it was a revelation for me. It combined everything that I had worked with, motion graphics, design and programming. I had a small screen so I started working on an interactive motion graphic application. Then the iPad was released and I shelved the project and started all over again. My SimulatedPeople interactive project was born.

When is an idea something more? For me this is one of those ideas, truly something more. I read comics as a kid, I think everyone did. I remember walking to 7-11 to look through the stands. I used to buy the books and copy the art. That’s how I taught myself to draw people. I would daydream and think how cool it would be to actually interact with the pages.

That’s what I’ve done with this app. Within panels, users can touch characters, places and objects on the screen to propel the novel’s plot forward, their decisions ultimately dictating the story’s path. So when a user touches an interactive hot spot, graphics move and animate on the screen, revealing more of the story.
